Two Suspects in Forbes Road Homicide Die Following Police Pursuit in Ohio

Gaston County, N.C. (September 11, 2026) – Two suspects in Thursday’s homicide on Forbes Road died following a police pursuit in Ohio Friday morning.

At approximately 8:43 a.m., on September 10, 2026, officers responded to 2661 Forbes Road in reference to a reported shooting inside the residence. Upon arrival, officers located four victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene, and two others were transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. They remain in critical, but stable condition.

The deceased have been identified as Victoria “Heather” Moore, 50, and Megan “Josiah” Moore, 38.

Gaston County Police detectives quickly identified two suspects in the shooting, 26-year-old Camryn Moore and 29-year-old Cory Armstrong, both of whom also resided at 2661 Forbes Road. Investigators determined that Moore and Armstrong fled the scene and subsequently left Gaston County immediately following the shooting.

Gaston County Police requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force in locating the suspects. Later Thursday afternoon, detectives obtained warrants charging both Moore and Armstrong with two counts of First-Degree Murder and two counts of Attempted First-Degree Murder.

The U.S. Marshals Service and County Police detectives worked to locate Moore and Armstrong overnight and into Friday morning as investigators tracked their movements through multiple states. At approximately 8 a.m., the Ohio State Highway Patrol located the suspect’s vehicle outside of Athens, Ohio, and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on them.

According to information provided by authorities in Ohio, the suspects led law enforcement on a multi-county pursuit that ended when their vehicle crashed after swerving to avoid spike strips deployed in the road. Following the crash, officers reported hearing two gunshots. A drone was subsequently used to observe the vehicle, where both suspects were found dead.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances surrounding the pursuit, crash, and deaths of Moore and Armstrong, and is expected to release additional information this afternoon. That information will be forwarded to interested media outlets when it becomes available.

The Gaston County Police Department would like to thank the U.S. Marshals Service, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and all local, state and federal law enforcement agencies that assisted throughout this investigation. Their cooperation and coordination were instrumental in quickly locating the suspects across multiple jurisdictions.

This was a tragic act of violence that resulted in the loss of multiple lives and left others critically injured. From the moment our officers arrived on scene, our focus was on identifying those responsible and locating them as quickly as possible. The coordination between our detectives and our local, state and federal law enforcement partners was critical in tracking these suspects across multiple states.

Although the search for the suspects has ended, our investigation has not. Gaston County Police will continue working to fully investigate the circumstances surrounding this shooting and remains committed to protecting and serving our community.

Our thoughts and prayers remain with the victims, their families and everyone affected by this tragic loss of life.

Anyone with additional information regarding the shooting is asked to contact Detective G. Lancaster at 704-866-3320 or CrimeStoppers at 704-861-8000.
